Rock Band’s revival is real! Happy! EA is closing down Maxis, sad. Maybe some gold Evolve monsters will cheer me up.
Rock Band 4 Coming This Year
Harmonix has revealed that Rock Band 4 will come to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later this year.
Product Manager over at Harmonix Eric Pope says that the they’ve “landed on a design that doubles down on the core Rock Band experience fans love, while innovating on gameplay in some super exciting ways”.
The best part is that all previous versions DLC songs will work on the new game, Harmonix is “committed to the idea that Rock Band is a platform”.
There’s no release date for the game yet, though it will launch 2015.
Get Gold Skins For Evolve Monsters
Play Evolve this weekend and you’ll unlock some super cool molten gold costumes for the games monsters.
Play between 9pm PT on March 5th and 9pm on March 8th and you’ll become the proud owner of skins previously only available to the development team. As an extra bonus said devs will also be playing over the weekend.
We really liked Evolve when we played it, and praised it’s spectacular balance.
Maxis Closed by EA
EA has shut down Maxis Emeryville, the main Maxis studio, the developers behind Sim City and Spore.
“Today we are consolidating Maxis IP development to our studios in Redwood Shores, Salt Lake City, Helsinki and Melbourne locations as we close our Emeryville location,” an EA representative said in a statement.
EA had this to say:
These changes do not impact our plans for The Sims. Players will continue to see rich new experiences in The Sims 4, with our first expansion pack coming soon along with a full slate of additional updates and content in the pipeline.
All employees impacted by the changes today will be given opportunities to explore other positions within the Maxis studios and throughout EA. For those that are leaving the company, we are working to ensure the best possible transition with separation packages and career assistance.
The Maxis brand will continue it seems, but pretty much to run The Sims.
